Inspectors are inspectors because they're not smart enough to be contractors. Drywall cost $10.00/sheet on the high side. Why do people on this site continually act like they are authorities on things they have no clue about?

Give it a break, Huggly. You're a realturd, how do YOU know what's hidden behind the walls. From what I've seen, these MB builders are extremely greedy, why else would they insist on listing their properties at ridiculously high prices? You think they wouldn't cut a few corners by using Chinese drywall instead of U.S. drywall. According to ABC News, the Chinese drywall can cost as little as $3.00 per sheet while the U.S. drywall is upwards of $22.00 per sheet. In a typical 3,200 sq. ft. house, how much of a savings is that to the builder? No, they wouldn't cut corners. I HIGHLY suggest that all of those who just entered Escrow hire an inspector who is familiar with this Sulphur issue and make SURE that the drywall does NOT come from China. The smell from the refineries is bad enough.

Maybe that was simply an innocent, legitimate question. There is lots of new construction in town and it wouldn't be that out of the realm of possibility that builders would try to cut a few costs as the market tightened up...would it? Your supposition that MB builders would only consider using high quality materials is naive, at best. Have you been around town and seen some of the new houses out there? Not all great construction/materials. Many are, but not all. Why don't you be a little less sensitive and keep your knee jerk responses to yourself.

Oh, please. Hidden Problems? No. Next you'll start complaining about the crime wave again. Why are you trying to knock down MB? Just go away and vent your frustrations with your landlord. It's not our fault that the laundry room smells. I doubt that any MB builders used any of the Chinese drywall that was featured on Nightline last night (way to give credit, by the way). MB builders are known for their high-quality construction. Not only that, the sulfur problem highlighted on Nightline has not been proven to be toxic to the residents, it just destroys certain metal and electrical components like air conditioning and copper wiring. Nice try.

Amazing how many of these are closing at sub-$2 million. Two years ago, there were very few sub-$2-million listings. It's good news that things are moving---- just not good news if you bought recently and have to sell now--or if you're a developer.

I din't think Mr & Mrs Tree Buyer use words like 'pipeline' for available inventory. Realtor, your disguise is wearing thin. You may luck out and find some eager-beaver wide-eyed buyer you can use the 'there's no more new construction' tactic with, but hopefully people are not that naive. Buyers have many more choices.
